Welcome to Umina Beach Yoga

New to yoga? Experienced yogi? We are dedicated to supporting you on your yoga journey. Yoga can be adapted to suit anyone, regardless of fitness, flexibility or the lack of it!

Expect to feel both calm and energised at the end of a class. You may find you sleep better, cope better with stress and improve your creativity shortly after starting regular yoga classes. You’ll also feel stronger, more balanced and clearer in your mind and body.

Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond

Please select from our pregnancy, birth and mums and bubs classes. Remember to book in advance. Minimum numbers required for Mums and Bubs courses. Other studio passes are not valid for these specialist classes and courses.


Experienced Teachers


Helen Macnair

Helen’s yoga journey began in 1990 in her early 20’s. She began teaching in London in 1997 and is a registered senior teacher with Yoga Australia. She has been living in Australia with her family since 2006.

Philippa Curnow

Philippa made the sea change to the Central Coast 3 years ago from a fast paced life, working in Sydney’s beauty industry. She knew she had found a sanctuary and community when she found Umina Beach Yoga.

Liz Pool

Liz has a life- long passion and interest in the holistic practice of yoga. She loves a variety of styles and finally completed her dream of becoming a qualified yoga teacher in 2016.

Julie Hatfield

Julie teaches yoga because she sees it as a wonderful way to contribute to people’s wellbeing. Yoga addresses so many aspects of physical and emotional wellbeing and it really is accessible to everybody.

Tina Vella

Tina started yoga later in her life having attended many yoga retreats in Bali and India, which stirred up her curiosity about the benefits of Yoga and how she can apply the Practices and Principles to her life.

Amie Raz

Amie has been a student at Umina Beach Yoga since the surf club days. She has been practicing yoga since her early 20’s, throughout her pregnancies, using the practice to counter balance physically demanding work, managing migraines and physical injuries.

We love to host special events, workshops, and retreats at the studio, from Sound healings to Mini Wellbeing Festivals, the studio is the perfect space; central, accessible, lots of parking and great facilities.

I went to the Tuesday gentle yoga class with Liz Poole. I found it easy to follow. I don’t have much yoga experience, found it rewarding and felt welcome. Happy to recommend. Will be coming back for more classes.


I did 2 classes tonight with the new online format, and they were great!! It’s so fantastic we can still do our yoga practice from home, while feeling the connection to our great local yoga crew x


Last night I did my first remote yoga class on Zoom w Helen. The class was a great way to connect with my usual Wednesday classmates as we all self-isolate. Helen is a wonderful teacher who has the most relaxing voice, keeping me calm and present throughout my practice. UBY have promptly adapted to the current environment and worked quickly to get online knowing how important yoga is to the community at this time. Highly recommend you get online and try a class; you can do it in your pjs!


I did the Yoga for Pregnancy and Birth with Helen, and I cannot recommend highly enough. The environment was amazing and the knowledge I gained through the course made me so much more empowered in my pregnancy.


Great teachers, even when the classes are full the teachers manage to help all the participants, advanced and beginners. Lots of classes for different levels at convenient times. I feel rejuvenated each time I attend.
